managing attraction to teen daughter

[The following letter was sent to the site in response to an archived father/daughter question.]

I have been looking for information on this topic for two years! I am so happy to have found this website. I saw the article - http://www.parentingadolescents.com/father-daugh.html. I feel I was abandoned by my father and continue to be b/c he doesn't know how to deal with the sexual attraction that's there. I don't know how to deal with it either but I want to learn to deal with it. It has carried over into all of my relationships. I feel uneasy/awkward around men, like I have a weird sexual energy or something, even though I'm not really attracted to them. It's difficult to explain via email. I don't know what this is and any information would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I want my sexuality back. I feel I got stuck in a certain stage or something and I need to move forward! I don't even know what to search for on the Internet. I've tried several things and finally came across this site. Thanks, Jean!

Jean responds:
Hi,

It's good to know that some of the Q&As archived at ParentingAdolescents.com really do help people. I no longer reply to individual email queries, but perhaps getting the book recommended in my answer, Dads and Daughters, would be a beginning for you--and maybe for your dad as well. Good luck. And by the way, would it be all right with you if I posted your letter (without your name or email, of course) as a response to that Q&A in the Archives? Let me know, please, by return email. Regards, Jean.
