Parents and caregivers voted for their TOP 3 issues, from a field of 27 (26 named issues and a chance to write in "other"). (See Poll) We received 184 non-duplicative returns during June, July, and August 2000. A total of 182 were valid (not more than 3 issues chosen). As in the prior poll, the issue most frequently included as being among the TOP 3 for parents rearing teens and preteens is "bad attitude-lack of respect." The Parenting and Teen Polls are run continuously at this site and results are posted quarterly. (Click on the underlined text to vote in current poll.) Also as in the prior poll, in the current poll "academics" came in second. In the poll for the prior quarter, "mood swings" came in third. However, for the current quarter (June through August), we changed the poll to include "lying" as a separate issue, based on the popularity of lying as a write-in ("other issue") in the previous poll. Current poll results show that when respondents were presented with "lying" as a separate issue this past quarter, it came in third among the "top 3," with "being a know-it-all" coming in fourth and "mood swings" coming in fifth.
