Parents and caregivers of teens/preteens voted for their TOP 3 parenting issues, from a field of 27. The bar chart shows that of the 4 top vote-getters among the total sample of respondents [bad attitude, lack of respect; academic problems; chores; mood swings], "bad attitude-lack of respect" is about as important to stepparents as to biological parents as a parenting issue in rearing teens and preteens. However, the issue of "music s/he plays" came in second as a top 3 issue for stepparents, whereas the total sample of parents hardly gave any votes to this issue. "Drugs/Alcohol," "Lying," and "Mood Swings" were tied for third place for stepparents. See the results of the "Good Stuff" poll--the top 3 areas of appreciation for Stepparents of teens/preteens. See the Main Findings chart, which shows the top issues by parent-type (mothers, fathers, stepparent/other). For a list of all the issues parents could select from, see the Poll. Compare results this quarter with prior quarter's results. See Results of TEEN POLL. The Parenting Issues and Teen Polls are run continuously at this site and results are posted quarterly. |
