Parents and caregivers of teens/preteens voted for their TOP 3 parenting issues, from a field of 27.

The bar chart shows that of the 4 top vote-getters among the total sample of respondents [bad attitude, lack of respect; academic problems; chores; mood swings], "bad attitude-lack of respect" is about as important to stepparents as to biological parents as a parenting issue in rearing teens and preteens.

However, the issue of "music s/he plays" came in second as a top 3 issue for stepparents, whereas the total sample of parents hardly gave any votes to this issue.

"Drugs/Alcohol," "Lying," and "Mood Swings" were tied for third place for stepparents.

TOP AREAS OF APPRECIATION FOR STEPPARENTS

Here are the results of the "GOOD STUFF" (areas of appreciation) poll for Stepparents;
click here to view the results of the Issues Poll.

Other parents (biological mothers and fathers) selected "Discussions we have" as the #1 in their 'top 3' areas of appreciation with teens/preteens. "Achievement of child" came in second for those parents.

For STEPPARENTS, "Discussions" rated relatively low, whereas "Activity we share" was their #1 area of appreciation, followed by "Excitement at teen's or preteen's development towrads adulthood."

"Achievement of child" came in third for stepparents.
