Advanced training: I have been working with
adolescents and their families for 10 years in a variety of
settings including agencies, schools, residential programs,
family court, and private practice. I believe that a
nonjudgmental approach, sincerity, and true empathy and warmth
are integral to successfully engaging youth in therapy.
I use a psychodynamic approach to help my clients
understand how their past experiences influence their current
functioning. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an
essential tool in working with adolescents. Through building a
nonjudgmental relationship, I assist young people in
communicating and addressing their fears, struggles, and
goals. Adolescence is a time of tremendous opportunity to
address both past and current stressors which may have a
negative effect on current or future functioning.
I
believe that the most important aspect to successfully working
with adolescents is creating a truly safe environment where
they feel true acceptance so that they are able to express
themselves fully and openly. I am a down to earth person with
a real love for adolescents. I am not afraid to use humor,
flexibility, and take chances in order to engage and treat my
clients. |
