How the poll worked:
Teens and preteens voted for
their "top 3" issues with their parents, choosing from
a list of 28 possible issues. The bar graph above shows the four
issues that were the top "vote-getters" in this poll.
This time around, "My
attitude," "Parents don't respect me, treat me like
a child" and "Parents worry about me too much"
received equal proportions of votes in the overall sample and
are therefore the 'top 3' issues this quarter.
Last
quarter's results showed
"Parents worry about me too much" and "Parents
don't respect me, treat me like a child" as the two issues
getting the most votes from the total sample of participants.
"My moods" and "Parents don't think I know anything"
came in third and fourth.
Teen/preteen differences
The graph shows
that preteens chose "My attitude" in higher
proportions than teens did, and that "Parents worry about
me too much" received no votes from preteens. "Academic
trouble" was chosen in equal proportions by teens and
preteens.
Q&A:
Q: Why are all the percentages of the total vote so low? A: Because there were so many issues
to choose from (28 in all), and each respondent got to pick 3
instead of only 1.
