How the poll worked:
Teens and preteens voted for
their "top 3" issues with their parents, choosing from
a list of 28 possible issues. (See the
Poll.) The bar
graph above shows which eight issues were the top "vote-getters"
in this poll.
Last
quarter's results showed
"academics" and "parents don't respect me--treat
me like a child" as the two issues getting the most votes
from the total sample of participants. "My attitude"
and "parents worry about me too much" came in third
and fourth.
This time around, "parents
worry about me too much" was #1 overall and #1 with teens.
The graph shows that "they want me to be with the family
more than I want to be right now" is the #1 issue for the
preteens who responded to this poll. Preteens' second most popular
issue was "my dress/appearance," with "parents
worry about me too much" coming in third and "chores"
fourth.
Q: Why are all the percentages
of the total vote so low?
A: Because there were so many issues to choose from (28 in all),
and each respondent got to pick 3 instead of only 1.
